Blues was a type of African American music that was popular. Country western music was also popular. Rock and roll was the combination of folk, blues, and country. The first rock superstar, Elvis Presley, was white, but his voice was similar to an African-American. Elvis died in 1977. But even today, some people still call him The King of rock. In the 1960s, psychedelic rock was very popular, especially the music of the Beatles, a British group. The other popular type of rock music was African-American.
